As the department continues to mourn the loss of Jason Austin, senior research specialist in the Division of Reproductive Sciences, we would like to make everyone aware of opportunities to share memories and support his family in the coming weeks. Jason was a valued member of the UW Department of Ob-Gyn for decades, and his absence is keenly felt.
Jason’s family will host a memorial gathering in the Garner Park main shelter on Sunday, May 29, 12:00-2:00pm. All are welcome to attend.
The Sponsored Projects and Finance team have arranged three cards for us to sign. The cards will be in the kitchen area in McConnell Hall (4th floor) until May 25. Please stop by to sign and share your thoughts for Jason’s family. You only need to sign one card. The family will be receiving all three cards.
If you are moved to give, there are a few different ways to support Jason’s family through this challenging time. There will be a donation lockbox in McConnell Hall (4th floor), attached to the lamp outside Dr. Barroilhet’s office. (Just look for the red lockbox.) You may also send money over Venmo to @Lisa-Barroilhet. Visit the Gift page of the Ever Loved website for Jason and donate to one of the several causes that he cared about (https://everloved.com/life-of/jason-austin/donate/?flow=201). Please make donations by May 25.
If you need support yourself through this challenging loss, you can access support resources through the Employee Assistance Office 24/7: https://hr.wisc.edu/employee-assistance-office/.
