Kara Mulligan to serve as interim Department Administrator

We are thrilled to announce that UW Ob-Gyn Associate Administrator and Director of Clinical Operations Kara Mulligan, MHA, MBA, FACHE will step up as interim Department Administrator effective April 1, 2022, following the retirement of current DA Jenni Stevens. Please help us thank Kara for guiding the department’s administrative efforts during this time of transition!

Kara joined the UW Department of Ob-Gyn in 2014 after four years as a clinic manager for the UW SMPH Department of Surgery. Since joining our department, Kara has been an effective leader of several teams, including the medical coders, advanced practice providers, Medical Programs Supervisor, ASOG Operations Manager and more. She has played a key role in department strategic planning including budget development and execution, program development, geographic strategy, space allocation, contracting, credentialing, physician and APP recruitment including proforma development, funding support, and resource allocation. Kara has also led numerous clinic initiatives and quality improvement projects, including launching CenteringPregnancy, expanding our LARC educational platform, growing and relocating the Women’s Pelvic Wellness clinic, building the supports for the Hope After Loss Clinic and memorial service, and much more.

As interim Department Administrator, Kara will direct the overall administrative operations of our department’s clinical, educational, research and service responsibilities. She will take this on in addition to her role as Director of Clinical Operations!

For several years, Kara and Jenni have worked closely together as a formidable team. There is no one more prepared or qualified to lead us through this transition than Kara.
