UW Ob-Gyn celebrates Black History Month 2022: Black Health and Wellness

February is Black History Month. The UW Ob-Gyn DEI Committee shared a round-up of activities, community organizations, and resources in this newsletter. Read the newsletter to learn about events, organizations, and ways to be involved in our community!

This year’s Black History Month theme is Black Health and Wellness. Throughout February, UW Health will share stories from colleagues on social media. Watch their Facebook page for posts this month, including one about Jackie Peebles, MD, of the UW Ob-Gyn Division of Academic Specialists in Ob-Gyn!

OBGYN Reads:

The DEI Committee invites you to participate in a shared reading experience Killing the Black Body by Dorothy Roberts. We will read the book together, with discussion opportunities for anyone who would like to debrief about the book. Bring your questions about the introduction and Chapter 1 to a drop-in discussion on Friday, Feb 25 at 12pm OTuesday, March 1 at 7:30pm (click the links to add these events to your calendar!)

Advocacy Happy Hour:

Advocacy is easier when done with friends! Drop in on Monday, February 28 at 5:00pm for support, encouragement, tips, and resources to help you take action to advance health equity and antiracism. Add the 2/28 Advocacy Happy Hour to your calendar!
