Retirement of Jenni Stevens

As many of us heard on the Department Conference call on Thursday, January 13, UW Ob-Gyn Director of Business Services and Department Administrator Jenni Stevens, MPA has announced her intention to retire this spring. Her official retirement date is April 1, 2022.

It is impossible to overstate how critical Jenni has been to this department over the last 14 years. She joined UW Ob-Gyn in 2008 after several years in the UW SMPH Department of Surgery; she arrived during a time of change and challenge for the department. Jenni has been integral to every area of growth we have experienced since then. This includes expanding our clinical faculty by 30%, negotiating partnerships for our clinical outreach programs across the state and northern Illinois, greatly increasing clinical revenue, and building the department’s infrastructure in support of our clinical, educational, research, and outreach missions. Her careful stewardship of department resources has set us on a stable, sustainable path for future growth.

The UW Department of Ob-Gyn is not the only part of UW SMPH to benefit from Jenni’s talents. She has long served on SMPH and UW Health committees like the SMPH Internal/External Website Committee and the UW Health Community Care Council. Her mentorship and support of other SMPH department administrators is deeply appreciated.

From managing budgets to reorganizing funds flows, recruiting top-tier talent, streamlining annual review processes, supporting exciting efforts in research and education, building a supportive community for department staff, and so much more, Jenni has done it all. So many of this department’s exciting accomplishments would not have been possible without her. Please join us in thanking Jenni for 14 years of exceptional leadership, and wishing her the best in retirement!
