| For the first time, the Ob/Gyn Department is sponsoring an underrepresented minority visiting clerkship scholarship in Maternal Fetal Medicine. This scholarship supports a 4th year medical student for up to $2000 for tuition, housing and living expenses associated with the elective.
Dr. Theresa Duello (pictured above) was instrumental in getting this program off the ground for the UWSMPH and working with the Ob/Gyn Department in coordination and recruitment of minority candidates. A sub-committee including Dr. Theresa Duello, Dr. Kathy Stewart, Dr. Ian Bird, John Street, and Janet Short reviewed applications and a candidate was selected—Lourdes Juarez from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in Illinois. Lourdes will begin her rotation in November. |
