Tenure-track faculty grants open

The grants below are available for tenure-track faculty only. Online application materials will be available on July 1, 2019. More information is available at

Faculty Development Grant Program

The faculty development program is dedicated to the maintenance of academic excellence by increasing the flexibility and effective use of existing faculty in the University of Wisconsin System. The financial objective behind this faculty retraining, renewal and development program should be to minimize the fiscal implications to the participant, thereby encouraging rather than discouraging participation in the program.

Research Service Grant Program

This program was initiated to recognize the service contributions that untenured faculty members, especially women and members of minority groups, are asked to make to the University. Under this program, assistant professors and instructors who are in the first five years of tenure-track service at UW-Madison are eligible for summer salary (2/9ths of the academic year salary or equivalent) to pursue worthy research projects.

Faculty Sabbatical Leave Program

To enable faculty members to engage in intensive study in order to become more effective teachers and scholars and to enhance their services to the University. Sabbatical leave may be granted for the purpose of enhancing teaching, course and curriculum development, or conducting research or any other scholarly activities related to instructional programs within the field of expertise of the faculty member. For any assistant professor, associate professor or professor with six or more years of full-time instructional service, or the equivalent and have not taken a sabbatical.
