Lauer launches QI project to improve HPV vaccination rates

In an effort to improve HPV vaccination rates, Jake Lauer, MD, of the UW Ob-Gyn Division of General Obstetrics & Gynecology, launched a new quality improvement project aimed at postpartum women.

Though the CDC recommends providing the HPV vaccine to adolescents aged 11-12, uptake remains rather low. Lauer hopes to help postpartum women in the catch-up age range (up to age 26) who haven’t received the HPV vaccine or haven’t completed the vaccine course get fully vaccinated against HPV. He estimates that several hundred eligible women (unvaccinated or incompletely vaccinated, in the catch-up age range) come through UW Health clinics for postpartum care each year.

Informational flyers were distributed this week to Union Corners, 20 South Park and Arboretum clinics (see above). Contact Dr. Lauer if you have any questions!
