Welcome to the MAY 14, 2020 update on UW Ob-Gyn departmental operations.
WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW TODAY?
As shared on the May 14 Virtual Department Meeting, UW Ob-Gyn’s Safer at Work Bounce Back Plan outline and slides are now available.
With thanks to Melody Bockenfeld for sharing this thought on a call today – we’ve all heard the saying “this is a marathon, not a sprint,” especially used as encouragement to pace ourselves and be patient. But in this case, we’re dealing with more than a marathon, and expecting ourselves to continually grind away without rest is unrealistic. Instead, let’s consider this a relay – there are times when we’ll each need to run hard and fast, but it’s also okay to pass the baton to others on our team when we need a break.
Please take care of yourselves throughout this long haul, and ask for help when you need it. As always, you can find resources to support mental and physical resilience on the UW Ob-Gyn Wellness Committee resources page.
- Huge congratulations to the UW Ob-Gyn Rural Residency team, who just received a Baldwin Wisconsin Idea Endowment Grant to propagate the Rural Residency program throughout the U.S.! ACOG has committed to be a partner in this incredibly important process.
- We will return to something like our regularly-scheduled M&M and Grand Rounds program in June, albeit virtually. More information to come soon.
- The University of Wisconsin-Madison has been selected as one of 10 research institutions to compete for the Hartwell Foundation Individual Biomedical Research Award. Learn more here, and submit your pre-proposal to Tracy Cabot in the School of Medicine and Public Health by Noon, Thursday, May 28, 2020 for consideration.
- Andrea Zorbas will be in touch with faculty to help coordinate plans for lab research reopening on a small scale on June 1.
For the second year running, the annual Department Awards Ceremony, coming up on June 25, 2020, will include the new Support Staff Excellence Award! You can nominate your excellent colleagues by filling out this form and returning to Jenni Stevens by May 18, 2020.
TAKE A DEEP BREATH
On this week’s Virtual Department Meeting, the Clinical Research Office asked what recipes we’re enjoying, inventing or perfecting during quarantine. Check out the whole list for some ideas for your next meal plan!
